Winning Team Fife School Enterprise Challenge

The official launch of the Fife Schools Enterprise Game took place today at a Culture of Enterprise event held at Carnegie Conference Centre, Dunfermline.  The event, part of the Fife Business Week programme, brought together an impressive number of local business leaders, educational representatives, teachers and pupils from across the region.

The new Schools Enterprise Game, introduced by the Fife Economy Partnership, has been developed by Fife Council as a way for young people to learn about business, enterprise and the Fife economy.  The Fife Schools Enterprise Game involves young people ‘running’ their own business in groups, using their entrepreneurial skills to make their initiative as successful as possible.

The Fife Economy Partnership announces the 2011 Fife Business Week.

Last year, the Partnership launched Business Week to highlight the many advantages Fife offers for businesses - high calibre staff, first class infrastructure links and acknowledged centres of excellence in many sectors. Following last year’s success, this year’s programme has doubled in size with an unprecedented level of support from colleges, business groups, and partner organisations which embodies the very spirit of good entrepreneurial progress.

The Partnership is ambitious to see the local economy continue to flourish and hope that this year’s programme of events will prove popular and stimulate discussion, sharing of ideas and best practice as well as opening up networks and business opportunities.

Kirkcaldy Business Forum’s Chairman, Colin Shipton, explained "Businesses can take themselves too seriously at times which is why one of the most important aspects of our group is to have fun, whether it’s in business, at our meetings or raising money for worthwhile causes such as the Mary Leishman Foundation."

He continued, "As small businesses that rely upon the local area we are delighted to be able to make a massive difference for fantastic causes that do so much for the community."

Tree of Knowledge (TOK) is a motivational speaking company dedicated to putting the fun back into work. It is a Fife company run by an innovative team, whose sole ambition is to make work a better place for everyone.

The Kingdom Business Forum will be welcoming representatives from West Fife Enterprise for next weeks' meeting (30th April 2010).

26 years ago West Fife Enterprise was formed by a group of local activists from the West Fife villages when the coal mines began to close.  The objective behind West Fife Enterprise has always been to skill local people and help them to move into employment.  Our core group of participants are 16-19 year olds, one of the hardest hit groups of people through the recession.  We are striving to equip our participants with the skills employers want and help them to move into employment opportunities; but we can't do it alone - that's why we need you to come along to the meeting next week to find out how you can play your part in skilling a workforce for the future.
